Boarding the boat in Mali Losinj I was in for a week of simple yet tasty food, quiet serene beaches, beautiful little town where the culture was rich and stunning sunsets. One of the best experiences i had on the boat was the captains extraordinary skills at fishing, within 5 minutes of claiming he was a brilliant fisherman there was 6 fish in the pan and 5 hungry stomachs ready for them. this week will be one I wont forget any time soon.
loved this boat and the people

The past (almost) 2 weeks have flown by onboard Doga, and I fly away tomorrow morning. Since the last post, we've been to Unije, Martinscica, Cres, Valun, and Rijeka. I was lucky enough to have my birthday on board, and the celebrations started a day early with the purchase of a few liters of wine and a bottle of Rakija. We sailed off to Valun, a beautiful town with crystal clear water where I spent the day being lazy and sleeping on the beach (with a pair of handsome blue eyes), while the rest of the crew went for a lengthy swim. We decided that we must race in the Fiumanka regatta in Rijeka the following day, and in order to get there on time we would have to begin the trip in the evening and into the night. We all started off awake and strong, but by 10 pm Georgia and Meg fell asleep, followed by Wannes and finally Zelimir himself. He must trust me a lot to leave me in command of his ship! So, I turned 21 sailing through the night in the magical calm sea, under a clear night sky with lighting in the distant mountains. After a good sleep, we began preparations for the regatta. The race started off with just about no wind, but we certainly enjoyed ourselves with some music and dancing... of course shocking every boat that passed by. A few boats even tried trading off some of their crew for ours.. not that I can blame them. ;) We raised the spinnaker, and the wind slowly began picking up. By the time we got to the turning point, we had passed at least 5 boats! Then disaster struck as we made the turn, but we quickly recovered and were on our way back into port, where the wind completely stopped once more. Thanks to our captains fine tuning of the sails, we made it across the finish line and got 8th place out of 18 boats (all bigger and newer) in our class. We enjoyed lunch, some shopping, and then the party began. The marina was packed with people, as was every club. A few members of the winning boat's very attractive crew bought me a few too many birthday drinks, and even showed me their gorgeous boat. I ended the night asleep on Doga's deck with a broken toe - but all in all, I can say it was the best birthday ever.
Meg and Georgia left us yesterday, and we remained in Rijeka due to very rainy weather. Today braved a couple small storms, complete with rain gear... canarinos blancos! Tonight we stay in Omisalj.
I've loved every second spent on this boat, and I daresay I had too much fun on this trip. I know I'll be back again... sorry Doga, you won't get rid of me. Until next time.
Puse,
Commadore Mia
